BIC is not only a cutting-edge scientific meeting, but also an occasion to socialize among colleagues. Sports opportunities and evening social events are therefore organized to encourage the social network of science. This year you can join the cooking competition (Friday 3rd October), the sailing match race (Saturday or Sunday) and/or the tennis tournament (any day) at your choice. Booking is highly recommended. All competitors who have registered for the challenge will be randomly selected to be part of a team who will compete against the other teams for an overall score. You are also welcome to create a team yourself. Teams will be composed as evenly as possible to fit all three specialties. The team that obtains the highest overall score will be awarded the BIC Prize (prize-giving ceremony will take place during the Arrivederci dinner). The first 20 chefs/athletes who register for the competitions are entitled to a complimentary dinner!

Free evening to stroll through the Old Town (Bari Vecchia) where ladies prepare and sell orecchiette pasta in the streets in front of their home doors. Stop and have dinner in one of the fish restaurants in front of the sea or indulge in one of Bari gourmet restaurants acclaimed by the best guides. |

This year, soccer matches of the past editions leave way to sailing match races on mono-hull sailing boats. A teacher on each boat will assist you through jibing and tacking. Do not miss the unique opportunity to sail on the Mediterranean Sea and enjoy Bari views from water! Sailing match race (Saturday October 4th): Up to 4 sailing boats (hosting a skipper/instructor and up to 4 crew members) will be racing in two 20 minutes competitions. Please, note that crew members do not necessarily need to have sailing experience, although this is preferable for the best odds. A small contribution to the expenses is kindly requested as a reimbursement token for the skipper and the race jury. Tennis tournament (at any date): possibly double teams made of a male and a female. A small contribution is required for tennis court booking.
